Build up to the Olympics continues at Wembley Arena.

LONDON, ENGLAND, July 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From August 8th-14th, London's Wembley Arena will host the prestigious World Badminton Championships, in what is also seen as a dress rehearsal for next year's Olympic Games.

More than 200 countries will be competing at the event, with plenty of British interest on show. Nathan Robertson, 2004 Olympic silver medallist and 2006 World Champion in mixed doubles will compete here along with his team mate Jenny Wallwork, while 2010 US Open winner Rajiv Ouseph will be hoping to make an impression on the men's singles draw.

2011 marks the fourth occasion that the UK has hosted the championships, which were held in Birmingham in 1993 and 2003 and Glasgow in 1997. This will push them ahead of Denmark, who have staged the event three times.

However, it is the Olympics excitement that pushes the anticipation up a notch. This time next year the athletes will be at Wembley Arena once again to compete for a coveted gold medal, so players will doubtless be looking to lay down a marker in front of the British public.
